Big Dot Dish

This serving dish is wheelthrown - meaning it is handmade on a pottery wheel. It is made of a unique mixture of white and black clay that creates a "salt & pepper" effect which gives beautiful depth in both color and texture. The 'dot' in the middle is glazed in a subtle light blue.
 
With it's low and wide shape this piece is very versatile in function. It can be a fruitbowl, it can be a serving tray of serveral bites or of the showpiece of a dinner party. I would actually love to see it comined with a kenzan for some low-key ikebana action, but hey it's up to you of course.
